living the two worlds

The book Snitch is by Allison Van Diepen.  Te most major characters is Julia Devino a normal girl going to school and having to live with her father she is a person doesn't want anything to do with any type of gangs at her school.  Julia doesn't want to be influenced of anything gang or ciolent releated.  Until she met a boy named Eric Valiente who is a new student to he rschool & well he started dating Julia when he got to know her, but the one thing is she doesn't know his past real well and he's hiding something from her that she finds suspecious.  Julia has to face either being in a gang or just being a normal girl not involved in any gang activity.

As i was done with the book i had to think to myself that the last line in the book will Julia still see Eric or just get on with her life.  I find the book really interesting with drama, romance, and little bit or comedy, but their were more drama and romance.  Julia had to find herself before she can think about being with Eric her whole life.  The author did the story well and got me thinking that today there is always people will trying to think should they be in a gang and have a life like that or just say out of those kind of stuff.  The author as well potrayed the characters as if they were real people in life and going to school with all this kind of drama around them.

I reccomend this book to anyone who is interesting in the whole gang experience, not people that are in a gang, but people that are interested in different types of gangs.  I reccomend this book to my sister because since she sees a tc program called Gangland on tv she will probably get reall hooked onto this book and feel like the characters are as well real.  i would give 5/5 stars.

blog post #2

Roy is the type of person as a character to tell and think about questions that he is really worried about in the book i'm reading Hoot. Roy really wants to get down what he is really concerned about and that he wants answers and wants to figure out what is going on.  If no one can give him answers about the owls he is concerned about, then he would it out for himself.  Also another thing that Roy is also questioning is about that strange boy he saw two or three times before going to school on the bus stop.  "Roy couldn't stop thinking about the strange running boy" [8]. Roy basically in the whole book always concerned about the owls, which i can understand because they are destroying they're homes, but that is the one thing Roy actually cares about and saving them.
Roy thinks about many things.  The one thing he really thinks about is what is really going to happen if the construction people tear down the owls homes.  Roy wants to stand up to the mayor, vice pres. of Grandma's Paula's pancake house, councilman, and the rest of the people that are involved in this project and Roy knows that he will be doing the right thing for the community and the animals that get they're homes destroyed.  The other thing that Roy is thinking about what is mullet fingers reall name and what is the real story.  "it was owls" [245] thinking about what he saw is true and also explaining the situtation to his father.
The effects on other people that Roy gives them is very crazy and people that don't believe him about the owls underneath the ground of Grandma's paula's pancake house like the construction workers.  Also people don't believe until he Roy tells what has been going on and Beatrice Lee and mullet fingers don't think Roy is crazy at all.  Roy has no enemies besides a big bully named Dana Matherson who always picks on Roy in the beginning of school at the bus stop he chokes him until he can't breathe, calls him "cowgirl" or even "tex".  Roy didn't have much new friends since he is new to Florida, but he made friends with Beatrice Lee and mullet fingers.  people act around the character is nothing bad, but Dana that's another story, but nothing that they want to harm the character.  "where you going cowgirl?" Dana naming Roy as a sissy person [14]
The character Roy is trying to do is save the owls! And the what he is doing all the time.  If he doesn't stop or take action then roy will feel real bad  and will never forgive himself and he wants to push himself so he can WIN this.  Another thing that Roy is doing all the time is protecting mullet fingers (Beatrice Lee's step brother).  He protected him at the hospital, when mullet fingers had to medicine to heal the dog wounds and Roy let him use his name, but the doctor seemed very suspicious about what was going on.  He does not want him to get caught with the polices cause he is not in school and they might put mullet fingers into a juvenille place for him.  " burrowing owl and they are cunicularia" [154] explaining what type of owls they were in the site.
Roy is a young boy around his 12-13 years old.  Goes to Trace Middle in Florida.  Weak since Dana always chokes him until Roy had it and punched him right on the nose.  likes to read a lot, so basically comic books, but they didn't give much description of Roy during the book, but he is really a good and smart kid.
"Trace Middle didn't have the strickest rules" [2] tells me that Roy goes to that school since it always in the book during the first chapters that he goes there.

Blog entry #1

well i wasn't the type of person to read books like those people that love to enjoy books.  I was a student who would get assigned a book to read, but the only way i would read was the back and scim through chapters and that was basically my reading. I sometimes read books that will interest me and then i will read it, but i guess that's how everyone is.  The person that read to me were my teachers they would sit everyone down and my teacher would read to us and tell what we just heard on what she read to us, so it was really fun for someone else to read to me.  My best experience about reading would have to be just reading and finding new books that i will enjoy. I know that i have to get use to reading real real soon but i sometimes do enjoy reading books and i guess my reading habits will change real soon.
The book i picked to read for reader's workshop is "Hoot" by Carl Hiaasen.  I picked it because the cover of the book really caught my attention and when i saw the title said Hoot i was thinking it might be about owls and when i read it inside to see what's about it's a whole different story. So then i wanted to read more about the book i picked.  For me while scimming through the book it might be about problems or something that has to do with owls and the reason why it would be on the title and why is it so important.
